Manuel Morcillo is a Ph.D. student in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the Department of Plant Production and Agricultural Technology at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), Spain. He is a member of the Precision Agroforestry and Cartography Research Group (PAFyC). Manuel graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural and Agri-Food Engineering in 2019 and a Master's Degree in Agricultural Engineering in 2021, both from UCLM. He received the award for the best academic record in Agricultural and Agri-Food Engineering at the Higher Technical School of Agronomic and Forestry Engineering and Biotechnology, UCLM. His research focuses on the use of digital twins to enhance modern pressurized irrigation systems (drip and sprinkler irrigation). He is also developing innovative methodologies for parcel-level characterization and zoning through remote sensing techniques, employing satellite imagery and unmanned aerial vehicles. Furthermore, his work integrates precision fertigation modeling to optimize water and nutrient management, contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices.
